Using hose clamps

Can you have hose clamps under water or will they cause a problem? I want to use one to connect a hose to my skimmer under water in the sump. Bad idea?

Completely depends on type. If metal, even stainless steel can rust and cause pollution. (saltwater is a great corrosion accelerator in warm water) Plastic clamps should be safe, or possibly use some type of aquarium sealant. good luck

I wouldn't use any metal clamps. I have used the plastics ones and highly recommend them.

you'll be able to watch the stainless steel rust =) use plastic clamps and you'll be golden
