I had the opportunity to observe both in action, side by side, here is me observations:
Quality in built goes to Tunze, design is more compact & is less intrussive in the tank

Flow depends. if you like a more randon, less directional flow then go with Koralia. the stream was more focused, guess that wy they call it nano stream.

adjustment was easy on bothe, the I will have to give Tunze more props, Hydor cannot go to parallel on the glass/side it stuck to.

The last thing is the magnet holder/mount. Koralia barely stay in place, then again this might not be an issue if you have a thnner glass.

My tank is a 180 AGA. I tested the Nano 6045 against Koralia #4.

cheers

nano 6025

i posted a thread from rc on here where you can with minor altering of a 6025 turn it to almost 1200 gph and widen flow as well if you have a dremil { easiest from what i read } for $62

I like mods as much as the next guy. I also like saving $$$. but if it tends to void my warranty, I might have to think twice. just like our thoughts with Hydor, how will it last?
specs on the motor are in the design, R&D was done by Tunze, Im happy to fork over the extra $$.

not same as moding a $20 MJ

My tunze 6025 just stopped working about 1 hour ago. It is less than a month old. Ronen had rust on the impeller shaft. I am a little tunze negative right now.

no recall on the Koralia #4, only 2&3. I donot have a 6025, CaliReef has a 6045 going strong for more than a month.

Both are too new to determine longevity. only time will tell, this is something I canot report on, since I have no plans on keeping the Koralia n my tank, as I said will be used to mix salt & maybe aerate mix. my 6045 will be on 24/7.

You see this is where the extra money pays off. If you go over to the tunze forum on RC and post about your problem. Tunze will replace your pump. People have had problems with the first production run, wich Tunze are aware of.

After dealing with their customer service, I will be a Tunze customer for a long time.

According
To tunze its a reef safe rust?, iron oxide hydroxide aka phosban. A lot of us here run phosban and I'm pretty sure little amounts reach our water column. I guess just wiping the shaft would suffice. Until they make new versions of the nano stream prop shaft.
