Clown won't come down to bottom!

I introduced a Percula Clown to my aquarium a few days ago but it just keeps swimming laps around the surface and won't even think about coming down to the bottom and find an anemone. I had thought it was cause of the other large fish, but I had moved them to a temporary tank to see what would happen. Still just swims laps at the surface. Could it be afraid of the coral banded shrimp that is always out or is this normal behavior when new to the tank?

What's wrong with a clownfish that worries bout it's weight?

Seriously though... as long as he's eating and breathing normally, I don't think you have anything to worry bout.

Well, I don't have an anemone (well, not including the aiptasia, anyway) by my clownfish spends most of his time doing laps a few inches from the surface also. He does come down occasionally, but he clearly prefers being in the upper portion of the tank and near the glass.

Is yours a young clown? Mine is still less than an inch long. Maybe it's normal for young clownfishes?

The "treading water" behavior IS normal for juvenile clownfish and isn't anything to worry about if they are healthy and eating well. My occelaris pair does the same thing but I'm sure after they've matured they will settle and choose a place as a home. Your's may or maynot adopt the anemone, but they will set up a territory.

Is your fish smaller? Or full-grown?

Thanks for the answers, everything you guys had mentioned sounds just like what mine is doing and yes it is still young, so as long as it's happy I have nothing to worry about. Thanks again guys and I will take a look at that book too!
