There was quite a lengthy thread over on Reefcentral.com about a month ago about the Eco-Wheel. You might find that thread interesting. Head over to their website and do a search for Eco-Wheel Report.
For the past year, a LFS has been using an "Eco Wheel" set up, which looks pretty much like a bio wheel to me, only bigger and with a different name. Has anyone seen these around? It's basically a giant biowheel with what appears to be bryopsis algae growing on it with a light overhead. The tank they have had it on for the past year looks awful (all the sps are in the process of receding) and the new tank doesn't have anything else in it. For those of you in the area, I'm talking about Living Sea. Just curious if this is some dazzling new filter or just another twist on an old filter (they give some pretty dubious advice there, at least it seems dubious to me).
