Right now, in my 75 gallon, I have a rio 2100 return in my sump providing my only flow. (I just started, nothing but live rock right now)

I know I need to add some powerheads to provide more flow.

My question is, should I just buy some powerheads and throw them in, or should I try to do some kind of closed loop thing, or what? Does it matter what kind of powerheads I use?

It really depends on what you like, if you dont like the look of powerheads, a closed loop system would probably be more your taste, if they dont bother you and you want to save some cash, buy some maxi-jet's.

Mike

PS swap out the rio asap

Go with some Maxijets on timers or spend the bucks and get a wavemaker. Either way you will have better control over the currents in the tank. A Hagen 802 is also a good PH and has the advantage that you can vary the output, or reverse the flow. They are a little more bulky size wise compared to the MJ though.
