kole tang

Has anyone had experience with a kole or yellow eye tang??? I have had one in the tank for 2 days and he looks as if he is stressed going up and down the tank side, but on the other hand he darts into the rock and sand getting something-algae I guess. How interesting. I hope he isn't dying. My long nosed hawk went up and down the side before he died. Thanks for the info!!

Yes this is typical for them when they are stressed.
Keep the lights off the tank for a day and don't bug him all the time by checking on him.
Take a stone with some garlic soaked nori (for preventive ich treatment)affixed with a rubber band and place it near where he is hiding out.
It is also a good idea to place a pile of smooth stones somewhere in the tank. The kole tang has a sucker type mouth and goes for the film algae on the glass and smooth rocks. So, leave some glass uncleaned for him.

Mine is a phreak...panic attacks galore. Homer doesn't really go for nori so much as spirulina tabs, and the stick on OSI.
