i've got a 92 gal corner. and my overflow is very difficult to clean,(small area and a durso standpipe) therefor it doesn't get cleaned as often as it should. detrius builds up on the bottom and because of it i'm constantly fighting high nitrates. if i put some bristleworms in there would they survive without light? would i have to add sand to the bottom of my overflow if i did this? or should i just buy a small PH and point it at the bottom so things can't settle there?

I've had this problem before on an overflow I couldn't reach. Never thought of the bristleworms before. That may work. They don't require light to live. The powerhead also might work. A little one pointed straight down. You might try a prefilter pad. That worked for me, or pantyhose. Keeps the bigger stuff caught. The worms can take care of the rest.

Good luck.

Yeah, just put some sand in there. It will be like a mini refugium. I bought a few bags of HD sand just for this, I just haven't got around to doing it
