I've heard some folks say they use crushed coral in their Ca reactors. I need to replace substrate and have a bag of crushed coral laying around. Can I use?
I've also been using caribsea geo-marine substrate in my reactors. Make sure you use the larger size (pieces about ¼" in diameter) to prevent your reactor from plugging up quickly.
The pieces are pretty large. I don't think it is CaribSea brand as it is probably 5 or 6 years old (not sure how long CaribSea has been around). Anyway, I would like to use for something and since I already have, it beats buying Ca reactor media.
