My Tronic, either 150 or 200w, is slowly fading away. I can tell because the temp has gradually (in a few weeks) dropped from 78-80 to 74-75. The heater also doesn't glow in the dark as much as it used to (tank is in my bedroom).

I want a new heater bad. It needs to be electronic because I don't trust the bimetallic ones. The WON heater sounds pretty good and I would get maybe a 150w for my 70g tank. The titanium is another plus for me. Are they any good? Would the 150 be enough?

Thanks.

I had a WON heater. The first one I got worked randomly, and its replacement worked for 2 months. They are not UL approved. I sure won't be getting another one. It is really too bad, because the design is cool.

Dang! Not even UL approved, sounds like Rio pumps...

What kind should I get then? Are there any other electronic heaters? I've noticed that a lot of people on here like the Ebo-Jaegers. Do they last a long time, as in years, without sticking on or off?

Bigtank,

You beat me to the question regarding those WON titanium heaters.

I have Ebo-jager heaters and they work like a charm. My oldest, a 250Watt, is 11 years old. I was thinking about moving it from its primary heater role to the backup heater. I think I will just get a new Ebo-jager, instead.

I use the Ebo-jager to, and like it very much. It is know under the bed though, haven't used it since about the middle of may. Water stays at 80 degree's. With the use of a clip on fan blowing on the sump at a 45 and two rat shack 3in. fans in the hood. Central air unit stays set at 75. Man it must be really cold in your house.

It's not cold in my house, about 78. My tank is open-topped with an HQI system and a gallon evaporates every day.

I'll get the Ebo, but what wattage is best for a 70g reef tank? Thanks y'all.

Champion Lighting sells a titanium heater made by Pro Heat. I just put one in my tank so it's too soon to tell if it's a good product.

I had heard nothing but good things about the WON heaters until this post. I bought some and still plan on using them. I will post if I have any problems.

I've been running a WON heater in my 180 reef and my sons 75 FW for several months now. They seem to be accurate to about +/- .2 degrees, and have been flawless so far.

The best heaters I've used are the Otto Computherm's, but now that Reefers is gone, I have no idea who sells them. After them, the Ebo-Jaegers are also good.

Same here. I have had the WON 200W in my tank for the week that its been up and have had no problems with it so far. I won't buy Ebo Jager since one melted down in my roomates tank and killed a Sohal Tang and forced a flame hawk to commit suicide (carpet surf).
