Forgive me for asking what is probalbly a basic lighting question. I will be replacing my power compact blubs for the first time and was wondering which color temp. is best for a reef tank the 6700k blub or the 10000k blub. Thank you all!
The 6700K bulb puts out more lumens and is brighter, if you are using a 1:1 ratio of daylights to blue, go with the 6700 for more intensity. If you are running 2:1 or 3:1 go with the 10K for a more even blue white look.
Whenever you go to a higher color temp the lumens will almost always drop.
If you have anything in the way of a nutrient problem (read Hair Algae) then go with the 10K. If you are loaded with corraline and conditions are excellent, the 6500 will look good.
