If an acro colony dies, will the commensural crab move to a new colony??? Or does he/she go down with the ship??

That's good to know. My recent acro addition came with lotsa crabs. They are so cool! These crabs keep the coral clean too I think, I saw some blue guy eating fish crap stuck among the branches.

they will jump ship to a nearby healthy acro colony.

hopefully the reason why you are asking is not due to a colony croaking.

My crabs sometimes jump ship even when the coral head is healthy. I guess the grass is greener on the other side even for crabs.

Yeah Im an idiot. I thought I was the big, bad reef keeper, and burnt one of my acros with a new bulb.(I figured I didnt need to acclimate to the new light) I thought it would recover, it did for a while, but just started taking a turn for the worse. The colony is about 3 years old and size of a softball. Im just leaving it in keeping my fingers crossed.
