I was in Home Depot last night buying a fridge for my fish food and I went to go pick up some Aquamend which is what I normaly use for a 2part epoxy which works pretty well.

Anyway, I noticed this Loctite Repair Express 2 part that dries grey instead of the bright white of the aquamend.

I haven't tried it yet but I'm wondering if it'll even work and is safe to use.

I think all that 2 part epoxy putty is the same stuff.
I bought some at a hardware store that was not labeled for reef use ;)
it looked like the exact same stuff as the tlf brand. I looked at them side
by side. I used about 5 sticks of it in my tank and all was fine.
turn off the skimmer though, it goes crazy with the putty in the tank.

They may all well be the same, but I get nervous about trying things I'm not certain are reef safe.

Dr. Fosters & Smith does sell epoxy in 3 colors...your standard white 6.39 for 4 oz....Stone Grey 4 oz 8.49 and Coralline Pink 2 oz for 10.99 for those who can't wait for the natural growth and have money to burn. lol

Right... the money to burn part. It's not so much that, but the amount that I tend to go through. I hate the look of the white stuff which I've used in the past. It takes months to even start remotely looking like the rest of the tank.

I picked up some 2 part from the conference from Boston Aquatics (name?) it works awesome and dries purpleish but was $8 for a small tube. I can get a tube twice as large for 1/2 the price at HD.

Just wondering if anyone had any experience with that particular loctite brand. I'll try to post a list of ingredients when I get home.

I use aquamed , No problems, what i do is that I brake up some small rock and push it into the aquamed joints. when it dries you can't even tell where the joint is.
