problems with pfo ballasts

just curious if anyone else has had problems with the 400 watt mh ballast i have now torched my second 10k bulb in 4 weeks (not a heat issue) tank stays cool plenty of air flow just curious if you would go for round 3 or recommend another ballast it took pfo 6 weeks to send my last(correct) bulbs

What brand bulb are you trying to run on that ballast and which 400w ballast is it(regular or hqi)? Never had a problem with any PFO ballast other than the occasional one that gets dropped a few too many times by UPS and the ballast shears it's mount and requires some repair to keep them from rattling around.

By brand I mean, is this a BLUE 10K or is it a German or what? The blue 10K's have poor quality control and the bulb may be to blame not the ballast.

Got a duel 400 watt pfo, and have not had a single problem with it. Burned 65k Iwasaki, 10K German and Coral Life, and a 12K. No problems what-so-ever for me. HTH

the bulbs are ushio 10k
first the bulb shut down then came on the next day for about 2 hours then arced out at the tip of the bulb now the ballast will not fire any bulb but i can feel the power up

I have had 2 ballast problems with my PFO's in 1 months time, I called them at www.pfolighting.com and the gave me a return number for one of my ballast to return and they will fix and my other one they sent me a new ballast and a return slip to give them my bad one. Just give them a call they are great to work with and will help you out.

I am running a Hamilton and a Ushio on the PFO and have been since July of 2001. Not a problem at all. These are 250 watters though. But I haven't heard anything bad about PFO on any of the ballasts. Call or e-mail PFO and see what they say.
