Is there anything I can use to dissolve coralline from tank equipment such as powerheads? I replaced some powerheads in my tank and I would like to clean them up. It is very hard to clean them good with just a scraper.

I would think that a mild vinigar bath would help, but I always found that just cold water seems to make mine flake off.

i use a very deluted mixture of water and muratic acid. the acid will not eat plastic so i just let my pumps etc. sit in a 5 gallon bucket for about 5 minutes or so and all the calcerous material is disolved. i would say i problably use a cup for every 2 gallon of water.

I sit mine in vinegar and water over night and wake up to find a clean PH in pink water. But I only do that to the power sweeps. I think the coralline helps hide the ugly PHs.
