Help guys!

I just checked my rose coral today and it seems to be receeding! It's been fine for the past year or so. Part of it's lobe is starting to show the skeleton. What should I do?

Well, I've had the tank set up for almost two years now. It's a 15G tank w/ a BakPak attached. It is lit by 2 28W PCs. I've been thinking that it might have to do w/ either:

1. Lack of light now that it's grown bigger

2. The ammount of calcium in the water

3. The leather finger in my tank. I hear that they let off some chemicals that may disturb other corals

What do you think and is there a chance of recovery?

You don't have a whole lot of light, so you might want to add some. Also, toss some carbon on there and it should filter the toxins out of the water fairly quickly. Also, after you've done the carbon thing, do a water change. Receding flesh on a closed brain is often due to inadequate lighting (mine recedes wherever it's being encroached upon). Receding flesh on an open brain can be a sign of water problems. Don't know which one a rose coral is. My assumption is you're talking about a favites or a favia or a closed brain.

Thanks Dave. Now that you mention it, it was on the side that was resting against the rocks. Will the flesh grow back? I've had stonies go from meaty to boney. Don't want it to happen again.
