Hi, has anyone bought any of their live rock or sand or marine life at the Marine Scene in Herndon,VA?
I was wondering if any of you had, if you had, are they any good?

Spaniard,

You would be better off asking questions about local shops on http://www.wamas.org forum page.

To answer your question, the quality of rock they now get in has improved 100% from a year ago. THere is a lot more life on the stuff I got 2 months ago for my nano, than on the rock I got a year ago for my 125. They get it from Fiji 2nd day air.

Actually Marine Scene gets their rock from WSI, Reef Tank is getting it from a different Fiji collector.

I agree, MS's rock has improved 100%, they used to let the boxes sit around for days before putting it in water, so there was ZERO life left on it.

As for live sand, I've never seen them have any sand I considered live, but maybe that has changed recently.

I bought a mushroom rock from them a few weeks ago. They seem to be thriving so far! I'm pretty new at this but they still seem to be the most trustworthy source of livestock that I have found in the area.

I set up my whole 50g tank with them including 75lbs of live rock. People who have seen my tank are astonished by the amount of life and coralline algae I am growing in just a couple of months after curing. I have been very pleased with the Marine Scene and working with SCott and Tom there. I luckily picked up my rock the day after shipment so I had the pick of some nice looking rock as well.

Try the Reeftank. The rock is cheaper and they get it from the same place Marine Scene gets theirs.
