How long does it generally take a LTA to plant his foot into the sand? Any LTA owner with some tips on the care of this guy? Don't flame on me, I have read up on them, just looking for some first hand knowledge.
Place him on a rock next to the sand (bottom level), lightly holding him there until it anchors onto the rock. Soon, it will anchor beneath the rockwork (into the sand). HTH.
to get settled. If you have fine sand instead of gravel it'll get settled much faster. When I converted to a DSB using Southdown sand it planted it's foot in a matter of minutes. It does prefer to do this at the base of a rock though.
It can take as little as a day to as long as weeks. A lot depends on how happy it is with the spot you pick. If it likes light and flow it may stay there, but it may walk around until it finds a spot it likes. A lot of peeps on the board also believe that if you feed it, you can increase chane that it will stay in spot you picked.
dig a hole in the sand at the base of a rock and place it in the hole. Remember, they can grow very fast and they will sting your corals so pick the spot wisely. Mine took hold overnight and grew to the size of a dinner plate in 4 weeks.
