Melsandman,I believe you are talking about a multi-tap ballast that can operate on up to four different in-line voltages.They are fine to use as long as you connect the correct wires for your set-up.However,if you get it wrong you can burn up your bulb or ballast before you know it.Use a Multimeter and check any diagrams closely to be sure you have it wired right the first time.Good Luck with your project.
