My RIO started clicking. I can hit it, and it will shut up for a while. Sometimes it will stop though. Anyway, I took it apart, and I can't tell anything noticeable. What should I do if I want to keep this pump for water changes etc. With the clicking, it gets very little pressure. thanks.

It could be that one of the fins is damaged on the impeller (they use a hinged impeller), or something is in the impeller housing. Or, it could be doing the inevitable, breaking. I have a number of old Rios that the material inside the pump itself has seemingly come apart and these pumps don't work well anymore, like yours, and click. I think this is a sign the motor is done for. Look up Rios on this board, not a lot of positives for certain sizes, and I think yours is one of them.

My rio 2100 clicked off and on for a long time. I found that by plugging and un plugging it a few times, it would finally operate smoothly, until it failed and polluted my tank. I didn't find any damaged impellers, I think the problem was in the clearance between the impeller magnet and chamber that it operated in. Get another pump. It's probably still good for mixing new water.
