I recently setup a new 10G micro reef which is about 12 weeks old. About 6 weeks ago, plants (see the pictures) began to spread all over the Fiji rock.

I have pulled out about half of the plants from the rocks, but they keep growing back. I'm not sure what these are, so I'm hoping someone can ident these for me. I would also like some suggestions as to how I can eliminate these from my tank.

I pulled one rock out of the tank and plucked the plants out of it, but It looks like some plants are growing on the rock still.

Thanks!

As Marco said, I believe you have sargassum. IME, once the initial cycling nutrients have been used up, the sargassum growth slows and finally stops. If you pull out the sargassum a few times, you'll reach this point and it will just stop growing and "suddenly" you won't have any.

IMO, enjoy it now - six months from now you won't have any, and you'll wish you had a little remaining.

PE, Anemone is right. I had this in my tank and I let it grow for awhile, then decided I didn't like it, so I manually harvested it. It came back a couple of times but I kept manually removing it. Then it finally never came back.

It sure beats hair algea because it is easy to remove. That's why you'll wish you had some 6 months from now.
