I have a Purple blade gorgonian. When i purchased it, it was a deep purple. Over the course of time it has turned brown. I was running a 5k MH with 4- 55 watt PC's. Two atinic and 2 daylight. Would this be the reason why it is brown?? Now i just purchaced a Blueline 10K 175 watt. Would this help my problem?

It's not the sheadding that caused it to loose it's color. It has to be somthing else. Just thought it might be the kind of light i was using. If it was the light, will the new one bring back the color of it??

IME, almost all of the purple blades lose their color to some extent, going to some shade of brown or brown with some purple.

Mine's managed to maintain a nice purple color throughout the past 3 years. Its had some really rough bouts but managed to survive die-offs caused by exploding heaters and over-topping-off. I will say that it has grown very little, because while light is important, note the size of the coral polyps. They also need to be fed. Rotifers or the like would probably be ideal and would likely help its coloration.

Or it may not. :D
