When I restarted my tank, I had a bit of a mini cycle, so I put a polypad in my setup to aid in the filtration. The tank is back to normal now, but I feel like the polypad really helped with general filtration. I know they have to be replaced very often when used, but if I replace them every week or 2 is there any reason not to use one full time? I also find that where I had it eliminated micro bubbles, so it would serve that purpose as well.

the polypads should last much longer than a week or two. Unless your water is really in dire need of changing you should get at least a month out of them.

Agreed,

and, actually, Polypads are NOT mechanical flitration insofaras they act like floss - rather they take out unwanted metals etc - when totally exausted, they turn a similar brown.orange that our RO/DI units turn. I used them to take out phosphates but decided to take them out once I realized that it also took out the iodine in the water and all my acros were STN'ing (my observation, not scientifically founded).

I used to keep a full pad in my 92 corner for a month and the flow that ran over it was almost 1000gph.
