cpr bak pak II too loud

I have had a cpr bak pak II on my 20 gal tank for over a year now and lately it has been getting louder and louder to the point where I can't stand it (cause its in my bedroom and keeps me up at night). The skimmer doesn't work as well either, pulling out mostly water and not as much gunk. I have tried to clean it out and make adjustments but nothing has worked. It still has the standard equipment on it with the maxi jet and no bio bale or anything. Are there any modifications out there that I could do to optomize the performance of this product and quiet it down?

Seeing as the Maxi-Jet is the only electromechanical part that would create noise, try a different (new) MJ and make sure those venturi airlines are clean.

a cheap solution would be to put a rio 600 submersible pump on, make sure you get the one with the air control valve.
