I have a 150 tank with a 40 sump and a littlegiant 4mdqsc pump.My tank has 2 corner overflows with 1" pvc for plumbing to the sump but it puts so much airbubbles in there that the return pump puts it right back into the tank.I tried to reduce the flow into the sump and it took the air out but if you don't stand over it all the time it over flows my tank.Noise is not a concern, but water on the floor is.any ideas?

As far as the topic of air bubbles in the tank goes, "micro bubbles" aren't all bad. Similar to the functioning of a skimmer, bubbles will carry the DOM's and DOC's that coral polyps may indeed feed on.
As far as the overflow problem that you referred to, that would be a bad thing. Please explain more.
Is your turnover set-up simply out of balance?

My turnover is fine.the 2 overflows handle what the pump puts into the tank with no problem. What I tried to do is restrict the flow from the tank to the sump so the standpipes didn't suck air in.I thought that the airbubbles were harmful to the corals and would burn them if trapped under them.If they aren't a problem then I can live with them.they aren't as thick as my protien skimmer and don.t burst on the surface causing salt creep and splashing ,I just thought that there wasn't supposed to be any bubbles in the tank.

I surprised you can stand the noise.

I have two overflow boxes in my tank with 1" outputs. I have two gate valves installed on each one of the outputs. I start the pump with the gate valves wide open and then begin to slowly restrict the flow so that the water is backed up approximately have to 2/3 of the way up the boxes. This reduces the noice and completely removes the bubles.

You can also install some deviders in your sump so the water has to flow over one and under the other. This will force a large number of bubles to the surface and break before the are returned back to your tank by the pump.

Hope this helps.

I had the same problem. Then my sump leaked and I decided to have a friend build me a new one. We built 3 sets of baffles into it, heres a picture:
