I just bought a beautiful orange sponge and the perfect spot that I have in my tank to place it is very close to my invasive green star polyps, do they can hurt my sponge :x I know that my green star can sting other corals... but what about sponges? Thank you in advance.

Yes, there is a chance that might happen. Is the sponge in a strong current area? What are you feeding him with?

I place him in the strongest current spot in my tank and I will feed him with DT"S phyto, reef vital DNA, black powder and coral-vital and Invertebrate gourmet gumbo.... well I've been pouring all this stuff daily in my tank with amazing results (besides Iodine, strontium, vitamins..etc...etc) and I think that my sponge is going to feed on any item in his menu :) . any recommendation? Thank you for your reply.

Wow, that's a lot of feeding......Watch your nitrate, phosphate and ph.

GSP is a fast growing specie and just make sure they don't comes in contact with the sponges for more then a week.

Good Luck

I will run a water test and I will let you know, anyway everything looks perfect, by the way in the black powder and DNA intructions say that you will read high nitrates but they are not really nitrates ??? I want to believe that.... I hope they are saying the truth, anyway I will test my nitrates and phosphates and I will let you know. See ya.

Hi Luis, what do you mean by amazing results? How does the orange sponge react when you release the food in?

Luis,

How old is this tank, and what size? How often do you do water changes (and how large)? I'm asking because it sounds like you are pouring a lot of unnecessary, and potentially harmful junk into your tank. Long term, you may end up with water that bears little resemblance to natural sea water (other than salinity).

I have not seen any change in my sponge yet, When I said amazing result, I was talking about my whole tank, since I started using the black powder and the DNA I can see new stuff in my tank (small sponges in the rocks, small tunicates, etc), I don't know what it is and how it works but my live coral is more colorful and my corals look better now. My 30 gal tank is 4 years old, I'm doing a 10% water change monthly and my parameters are PH 8.2, Ammonia 0, Nitrites 0, Nitrates 12.5ppm and Phosphates 0. my nitrates used to be almost 0 but like I told you before in the Black powder and DNA says that you will read "Fake nitrates" when you start using it. Who knows? :? Well I think it doesn't look bad at all. What do you think? Thank you for your help.

I agree with Kevin on unnecessary dosing in nutrients. But use your own judgement. I don't understand how "fake nitrate reading" thing work.
