how much flow should i have in my 55 gallon reef. i have a bunch of zoas, some leathers and a few montis as of now... maybe a low light acro in the future.. how much flow should i have with just the montis and how much with acros too... i just added some new powerheads and my tank looks like a wave and wirl pool.. this normal?.. what do you think?

I have 2 seio 820's in my 55. I also have they same kind of lineup you have in your tank as far as corals.

I have a 58G and have a Tunze 6025 and Tunze 6045. When they are both on, it seems like too much flow. Now, I just alternate between the two PH's. Some days I'll only have the 6025 running, other days I'll only have the 6045 running.

I have a similar setup, just with mushrooms instead of leathers, along with a huge Pavona and nearly as huge Lobo....I just use a single Maxijet 1200, in addition to the flow from my skimmer (negligible) and Aquaclear (holds carbon only). There seems to be plenty of flow in the tank. Interestingly enough, my bottom tank, a 30 gal, is mainly mushrooms, but just for the hell of it I put in 2 Montipora digitata frags...no extra flow at all aside from the filter and skimmer. The Monti's are thriving, but show a totally different growth pattern than the ones in the 55gal tank...much more densely and heavily branched, but smaller size growth and much smaller polyps. Take care, Eric
