I have a 20gal DYI sump. Where the water drains, also where the skimmer will be, the water level is about 12 inches. I used to use a remora pro in the sump which worked out ok. Now i just got a euroreef cs6-1. They recommend 6-8" level. But in order for me to do that i would have to do some work on the sump. Is there any problem with running the skimmer at this level?..THanks.

I'm running a Euroreef CS6-1 in a 29 gallon sump with about an 11" water level in the skimmer chamber. Anything lower than about halfway on the output tube adjustment and the outlet is submerged (so, in effect, you don't have that lower half of the adjustment range available). So far this hasn't been a problem since the water level corresponds pretty well with the level I have my output tube set at anyway. I already made a little plastic stand to elevate the skimmer (which I'm not using at the moment) in the event that I want that extra adjustment down the road.

Thanks Wolfman,
BTW i took 2 3" pvc couplings and put a piece of acrylic on top of that to create a stand. So now the skimmer sits at the 6" they recommend. Where should i keep the riser tube in order to get the best skimmate, should i keep it low or high?..Thanks.

So far I've been running mine right around the middle of the adjustment range and that seems to be working well. Since you're just setting it up now, that's probably a good starting point - set it about in the middle and see how it goes. If your skimmate is too wet, lower the output tube adjustment a little - if it's too dry, raise it.

Post back after a few days and let us know what your initial reaction is to the difference in performance between the Euroreef and the AquaC. I'd be interested to hear about it...

Wolfman,
So far my initial impression is that its a great skimmer. As for a comparison, i think its unfair for me to speculate. I think i'ts like comparing apples to oranges. So far it has pulled out more in one day , than my remora has in weeks. Now i've cleaned the remora , but nothing much happened. When i first bought it was pulling out a ton of crap. Maybe the pump is not as efficient anymore, who knows.

How far do your bubbles come down inside the chamber?..Mine come down about an inch before the top of the grey elbow inside the chamber. Is this where it should be?...Thanks..

Pedro:

Sounds like your skimmer is working the way it should. As for the comparison with the Remora Pro, I didn't expect there to be much of one. IMO these two skimmers are in a different class - I would expect the Euroreef to blow the AquaC away. Good luck with it.
