I got that superglue gel. I read somewhere that you can glue them on to your tank glass. Do I peel them off at night? do I try to dry them first. Help
Thanks
is your colony an unattached piece, or growing on a rock?..free pieces can simply be weighted down and they'll attached fairly quickly(small coral rubble works well) if it's on a rock, and you don't wanna mess with cutting or ripping it,place the rock touching the glass and just wait...
It does not have to be at night, simply remove the colony and shake it gently until the polyps recede. You can then use a razor blade to make cuts around the perimeter of the area you wish to remove. (I usually remove about 1/4" square pieces, spaced over an inch apart. These cover back over very quickly.) Once I have the outer edges of the area sliced, (between polyps as much as possible, of course) I then slide the edge of the razor blade under the skin and carefully peel it away. You will probably want to cut this into smaller pieces (about 1/8" square) before glueing it. It works just like sprigging grass- you plant small squares that grow together quickly.
Now that you have your little purple squares of turf, you can put a fairly small dab on the back of the patch and just stick your hand into the tank and glue it underwater. I have not glued to glass before, I think you would be better off glueing onto coralline patches if possible.
The mother colony and the new patch will stay closed for about 2 days, then they will be out and happy. It only takes 1-2 polys to get a sprig going, but if you use a decent sized piece of large, healthy polyps it will spread very quickly.
Have fun! I have my SuperGreen Star Polyps spreading all over the place.
