Hello fellow Reefers,
We could use your help....
The Upstate Reef Society (www.upstatereef.com) has been working on a proposal to renovate the Seneca Park Zoo's Marine Aquarium, located in Rochester, NY.
Current condition of Zoo's Tank
You can see why we volunteered for this. All the Hippo Tangs have LLE and Hole-in-the-Head, the corals you see are some type of foam decorations, the substrate is decorator rock, the filter system is 2 wet/dries and everything is running on 2 mag12s for a 450 gallon tank. The Zoo staff has absolutely no experience or knowledge on how to care or maintain a Marine Tank, so we have volunteered our time to renovate the tank and train the Zoo Staff on proper care and maintenance techniques.
Now here is the kicker, the Zoo accepted our proposal, but will not give us any money to accomplish our goal, so we have to raise the funds ourselves. But, the Seneca Park Zoo Society is a 501(c)(3) organization and all donations are completely tax deductible, plus we have arranged for a restricted account so all money donated to this project will be used solely for the Aquarium.
So, if you think this is a worthwhile project and would like to make a donation to the project, here is the link to the fundraising package that will give you all the information you need - http://home.rochester.rr.com/drsworx/reef/Package.pdf you will need Adobe Acrobat to read and print this.
We will also accept equipment donations, send equipment to
Upstate Reef Society

Include your name and address with the equipment. All equipment donations will be raffled and proceeds will be donated to the Zoo, then a receipt for taxation purposes will be mailed to the donator.
If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to ask.
Thank you for your help,
Doug Scheck
