New Pic of my 5months old

Got some fish inside already! Brown tang, 2 Bangaii Cardinal (one of them just pass away), yellow tail damsel, strawbarry, 2 black mouth damsel, a algae eating blenny, 2 kind of mandarine. got a boxing shrimp and a fire shrimp. Going to add 2-3 fire goby in near future.

Nice picture. Out of curiosity what size tank is that? Can you elaborate on "2 kinds of mandarine". It looks a bit crowded in there, is it just an illusion from the picture? I'd have to venture a guess that it is not an illusion as your clam does not look that large... Seems like you may be overstocked or at least certainly maxed out...Just my opinion, for whatever that is worth.

hehehhehe I broke the rules.. again. Yeah it's a bit crownded. it's only 25gal. the mandarine.. I dunno.... but they doesn't bother each other much. one like to hang around on the LF and the other on the floor.

actually there is no sump. The tank is only filter by the LR within and a protien skimmer and a nitrate reductor.
Well, if compare with the aquarist here, I only have a few fish. :wink:
The tang actually is just a temp. resident of the tank. I got it to clean up some algae. But now having a bit problem getting it out of there. I'm trying to stop my hand from getting more fish in from the begining but it's just like quiting smoking.

In the hopes of giving some constructive criticism here I would like to comment on your setup. It is a well known fact that mandarin dragonet's require quite a bit more live rock than what you have, I'd dare to say 4x's as much per mandarin. The chances of your two mandarins surviving without a large refugium attached creating a food source is really slim. That is a drag as they are one of the most awesome creatures . You may have do some dismantling of the reef to get that brown tang out, they are quick and will hide in crevices if scared. I hope you have some good lighting on the tank for the clam as well. Without some more water volume chances are the algae you are experiencing, while quite common in young immature tanks such as yours, will continue and most likely be a much bigger problem in the future. I have always had some macro algae problems in my 120g reef with a sump and refugium and a lower bio load in relation to your setup. I have learned to live with a lot of it and feel it adds a somewhat natural look to the tank. The macros I have don't impact the corals, inverts, or fish in any way and actually give lots of refuge for live pods for my 1 mandarin to thrive on. That can't be said for all macroalgae that folks end up with. I am afraid you may be in for some real problems over the next few years on this tank if you don't consider dropping the bio-load, meaning decreasing the number of fish you have. I keep two fish in a 40g reef. I admit this is a little low but it works well and I know I would never go over 4-5 small fish in the 40g reef no matter what. 9 fish in a 25g is just asking for problems in the long run. Of course this is your decision and your little ocean in a box to do with as you wish. I hope this helps a bit and gets you to thinking about the future and the well being of your animals.

I agree with those who are saying your tank is overstocked fish-wise. I'd also like to point out that your tank looks great, but you've left yourself no room for coral growth - meaning you will have coral death.

It might be hard getting them out of that coral-packed box you have there. The corals look great- they can actually stay happy packed in that way. At least, they could until you packed it in with poop machines that will beat their fins on them and rub their noses raw on the glass swimming backandforthandbackandforth.

I won't be judgemental- I overdo everything I have ever done. However, your fish will NEVER be happy. Which won't matter for too long, because unless you get rid of some, they will get rid of themselves.

Your tank is too small to have the tang only, and no other fish. Your tank is too small to keep a mandarin fed. What you have is a basically a Nano tank. You could get by with a small pair of Oscillaris clowns and the blenny. That would have it pretty full IMHO. The cardinals are open-water fish and will not be happy. The damsels are evil and will ruin your life. They will drink all your beer, pick at your other fish and corals, and sleep with your girlfriend.

You really HAD a good thing going. Maybe it's not too late to get it back.

hemm...~~ I'm trying to get the tang out. about the damsel.. I don't think I can ever get them out. How bout the bangaii? I think I can get him out. But I like him. I think I'll just have to put them in my father 200gal.
If I took those out I will be left with 6 fish inside. Anyone have try to catch a mandarine out before? aii~~ I already have been in there for 4 months.

You can try to get the mandarins out at night when they sleep. That is if they sleep where you can see and catch them. if you can get really small fishhooks you may be able to get some of the other fish out.
