I think he should have a bit more of a variety. Also they need natural foods that still have the shell on, as puffer's teeth grow continuously. I feed mine clams in the shell, crab legs and shrimp with the shell on.

I've had a Blue spotted Toby for about 4 years now, and while a little smaller than a puffer, is similar enough that I think diet's would be similar.

I feed mine frozen clams, krill, prawn, squid, and silversides, in addition to my home-made mix. I find he likes the prawn and krill better than others, but feed everything to make sure he's getting a good variety. I didn't know that about their teeth, so am glad I do have 'shelled' foods going in.

The best food for puffers is what they eat in nature and is available at grocery stores:
Live seashells (oysters, clams, mussels ...), crab legs and shrimp.

You mean just get the stuff from the seafood dept.?? I never thought of that. You mean raw shrimp, cut up?? Won't that mess with the tank??

Not at all, just don't buy the pre-cooked shrimp. It's not harmful, but it's not as nutritious for your puffer.

Seafood won't mess up your tank, it'll be gone before it hits the tank bottom.
Get a little bit of everything; make sure to defrost it if it's frozen and cut it to bite size chunks.
With seashells, simply open it and drop one half (or one quarter, or a small piece if the shell is bigger than the the puffer) into the tank.
