I have several groups of these and one group only cosisting of about 10 polyps the size of a dime to nickel .about 6 have blothces that are white and look to me like bleaching.Yet another group of these polyps near by dont have it.I have 2-55 watt power compact and they seem fine and eat solid foods otherwise.Although one or two seem deformed in shape completely inverting the cap inside out.Is this an infection and what could I do.

I have had the same thing happen to some of my polyps and they turned out fine. Keep feeding. They are very hearty, and can be difficult to kill!

Mine got better in 2 weeks. I had about 4-5 polyps out of about 50 polyps that had that problem. I did not do anything special to remedy it. Just normal feeding and same location, same water current...etc. I was wondering if it were bacterial infection but the white blotches seems to confine to those few polyps and never spread.

I'd have to agree, it's nothing you should really worry about. I worried constantly about my button polyps when I first got them, and they've turned inside-out, upside down, spotted, striped, and suffered attacks from a toby puffer. They're virtually invincible.

Have you moved them recently? If so, put them back where they were. I've found that under a single 55w PC, mine do better at the bottom of the tank than at the top. Too much light seems to make them angry.

I have found just the opposite; mine live high light.
