Lighting level for Frog Spawn (and others)

I just picked up a frag of Frog Spawn and was curious how much light it needs......My tank lighting system is only half way finished. So, I have pick and choose who gets to sit right under the 250 watt 10K (I will be adding another (plus the two 2 96 watt actinics (50/50 right now) for my 125 gallon)). I am assuming that they are pretty photosynthetic, but am not sure.

Right now, my Xenia's are grouped pretty closely under the MH, but I will probably fan them out a bit, since they are less light dependedent, to make room for the FrogSpawn. The Candy Cane is pretty close to the MH, but out of the way, same with the Mushrooms. The Starpolyps are filling in here and there. And the tree coral is pretty close to the bottom.

Am i thinking right here? These are all new additions in the past 2 months or so......

I am assuming that they are pretty photosynthetic, but am not sure.

I can't help you with photosynthetic information but FWIW, my branching frogspawn eats thawed out Marine Cuisine soaked in Selcon. I use a turkey baster to gently release the food onto its' extended polyps.

I have my Frog Spawn right under a 250w MH. At the top of my reef, about 4 to 5 inches under the water. The light is about 8 inches above the water. It seems to really like it there. It's been there for over a year now and is doing great. :lol: Hope this helps.

i dont have a frogspawn, but i do have a torch (and since they're both euphyllia i feel like i should respond to this post) and it's about 8 inches under my 10K and 03 powercompacts. seems to be doing well, mind you this is a nano reef. soon i'll have to frag off some of my torch or it'll run into my acropora.

I have my green branching frogspawn about a foot and a half under 2 96 watt PCs. It's thriving there...had it for 2.5 years and it's developed at least 20 branches from the original 3 it had. It's my favorite coral. I've tried to feed it a few times but it rejected the food each time so I've stopped. If it is getting food, it's coming from left over fish feedings.

Variable. It can get light levels from near surface, to fairly deep down. I would tend to think that anything from HO/VHO on up to 400W MH would be fine. I don't think it NEEDS high light levels, but will adjust to them ok. Just acclimate it well, and feed it.
