are these MH units any good?

I bought one of these units in August. It arrived as advertised. I found several positive reviews of the company, (PFO, they also have their own website). I think he overcharges for shipping, ($35.00) but for me it was a good deal.

I've been running a PFO dual ballast for the last 2 years. Never a Problem I to have seen these lights and am considering bidding. IMHO PFO are very good ballast

so if i was to buy one of those units, what do i have to build it into? I have to make some kind of custom hood right?

You don't HAVE to build a hood, just have some means of supporting the light. With that said your tank will look much nicer with a hood.
The price that is bid right now is CHEAP.
