Greetings, being relatively new myself take what I say with a grain of salt but after a lot of reading and discussions with LFS people the key seems to be an excess of nutrients. Additionaly phosphates and silicates feed the algae. If your tanks is less than 4 months old it is probably still doing a fine tune cycle. For me it was a routine of water changes with DI water and siphoning off as much material I could, coupled with carefull feedings to reduce free nutrients which algae use VERY effectively. I was very frustrated at first but stuck with many expeianced reefkeeps words on trying to be patient and stay away from chemical solutions if at all possible.

Good luck !
