Just wanting to get my alkalinity straight as Ive heard its good to have your alkalinity right in order for your SPS to retain its natural colors. So what is the right reading for alkalinity? What products do you use to raise alkalinity and how often do you add it? and any additional info would be great. Thanks...

I've had good results using SeaChem's Marine Buffer, although thier Reef Builder might be a better choice, haven't used it but it's formulated for reefs. It tok me about a week and a half of dosing every other day before my alk would stay at 3.5-4 meq/L, but now its very stable. Good Luck!

I went to the LFS today and bought a tropic marin alkilinity test kit and some Kent Super Buffer Dkh(they were out of seachem). My measurement was right at 8dkh. And from what ive heard this is a low reading or a reading equivalent to NSW. So Im going to raise it and we'll see from there..thanks for help

Both the kent and the seachem work well I have used both.

Once you add the kent superbuffer, disolve a teaspoon in a cup of water and add it to your sump. wait at leasst 24-48 to remeasure alk as it will take this long for it to give a good reading
