Welcome to Reefs.org (if it hasn't been said before)
My experience with chillers is a bit dated as I haven't shopped for a new chiller for years now. I currently use an Aqualogic in-line chiller and it is as reliable as I can ever want in a chiller. It's also relatively quiet, although I would not have it in my living room. I've seen Teclima chillers that seem to be a bit more quiet, but it's still audible. I just can't imagine any chiller powerful enough to cool 175 gallons to be quiet due to, if nothing else, the fan and generator noise. And the heat that chillers emit will quickly warm a room to uncomfortable levels. That's why I recommend against using chillers indoors unless it's the basement (well ventilated). I plumb my outdoors.
Sorry for this bit of bad news, but physics makes it impossible to create the ideal chiller that we're all looking for.
