My female Cinnamon Clown, Fishie, is distraught! She's homeless! She has no roots! She has resided (briefly) in 3 different anemones only to have them die out from under her. I am tired of animals dying on my watch and I don't plan to try another anemone, so she hasn't had a host for several months. She hides behind a rock most of the time and looks depressed! I have a 20 gallon nano reef with no corals — just macroalgae. Does anyone have any ideas about a substitute host? Anyone know what those fake anemones are like that are advertised along with lots of fake corals in the fish magazines? It would have to be soft and movable since she wallows in them like Joan Crawford in a bubble-bath!

Clowns are wierd. Some will live in a leather coral or star polyps and some pay no attention to them. A frogspawn or anchor coral will usually be accepted as well. However, if you cannot keep an anemone alive you may also have trouble with these corals.

I don't think you should start looking for a hostjust yet. More importantly I think you need to figure out what is going on with you tank and why things are dying off.

- Do you have any other animals or corals that do well in your tank?
- What are you water parameters?
- Fish Only or Reef?
- What Filtration are you using?
