Lion, Snowflake and ............Ok Ok stop yelling!

I wouldnt put anything else in that tank at all. First of all that tank is a bit small to even keep on of those fish in there. They are both have a tendancy to be a bit of dirty eaters and in a 20 gal the bio load is huge. I would suggest saving the money on the new fish and buy a bigger tank. what kind of filtration do you have going?
I already have a bigger tank going. This tank is for my wife because she wants a Lion fish and I wont let her put it in my tank. On the 20T I am running a Red Sea Prizm skimmer and just a small power filter for occasional water polishing. It has a 4" DSB and 20lbs. of LR. I already have this tank so that is why I am using it, I am going to buy the lion and the eel small and when they get big sell them back to the pet store or to somebody with a bigger tank that wants them.
Noway.....These fish grow fast. My Snowflake has grown alot in just the last few months. What kind of Lion are we talking about. Just get a Dwarf Lion for that 20 and leave it at that. My Snowflake is in a 100 gallon now. He outgrew the 29 in just a few months. He has escaped once from the 100. I found him just in time. These are real cool animals and my favorite Fish. He does try to get my Percula and Royal Gramma sometimes but is usually very shy. I also have a Coral Banded Shrimp that he does not bother at all. I believe he ate my Peppermint Shrimp.

1 Volitans Russelli lionfish and 1 snowflake eel in my 55 gal for 6 months.
The lion eats too much and processes too much waste to live in a 55. It eventually died. The eel tripled in length in that amount of time, but it was healthy when I sold it. It did escape once. bit me while I was feeding it and when I yanked my hand out it went flying across the room.
All you have to do is point your wife at WetwebMedia or this site and let her read the stories herself. That worked with my wife. We now agree on what we want in the tank

Im sorry did you say have my wife read up on something? That was a good one. My wife likes to look at the tanks but she doesnt want to learn too much about them. She has learned a lot but she will not research the hobby. That is fine with me I have no prob. with that. I have told her about this post that I made and she was none too happy about what was said, but we will do something I just dont know what yet.

Look up the length these guys get when mature. Its kind of like having your whole family living in a honda civic for the rest of your life, except that you could roll down the windows and get some fresh air in, wheras the eel can't

Get a wrasse or something, there are tons of fish that will be able to live in that tank, although all not at once I might add

Is her heart set on the snowflake? My own experience with these animals is that they can easily escape something as shallow as a 20 gallon, and I am certain she doesn't want to be bitten. My only moray bites have been from snowflakes, btw.
Ask her to consider, instead, a lovely dwarf lionfish. There won't be anything else that can be put in the tank with it UNLESS you add a hugemongous sump (if you can triple the tank volume, then you'd be doing just fine for a dwarf), but even then, do consider its eating habits.

If you are goin to keep the Snowflake and want more fish you must get a bigger tank. Get the largest tank you can afford but nothing smaller than a 50 Breeder. Then you could get 1-3 Dwarf Lions. I am talkin fuzzy's. Use a Hangon Aquaclear 500 and a Skimmer. You will be just fine. Just keep watch on your Water Parameters and do a 20 percent change every Month.
I must confess her heart was not set on the snowflake, mine was. Any way I just broke down my 30 gallon and we ended up putting the three engineer gobies and the black silfin blennie from that tank into the one that we were going to use for the aggressive fish. I am getting ready to upgrade to a 72 BF and then she will get my 46 G BF for whatever she wants to put in it. Thanks for all the posts and info.

Thanks for all the posts and info.In my haste of posting, I realize that was a bit too blunt-see earlier post. In thinking about it, she might be more happy with a tank of firefish gobies-quite an impressive display when you have a few of them together in a tank like the 46g bf. Less of a maintenance headache than the eel/lionfish, and they don't tend to sting or bite you either. Just a suggestion.

Good move buddy...I hope the conflict was not a nasty one.LOL Been there done that. Took me 25 years to get the tank setup I wanted.LOL I had to get out of the "People Pleaser Mode"........or should I say the Impossible Please your Wife Mode. LOL Just do it!!!!!!!!

Nothing is not so I have two tanks up one is a 55 the other is a 45 both have snowflakes good size ones I might add. I also have one yellow take. one blue tang. two clowns and a bicolor angel in the 55 none have become dinner for the snow flake. As to the 45 I have the snowflake two clowns and a yellow tang and again none have become dinner for the snowflake. The only thing is if you keep the snowflake feed then he has no reason to bother any of your other fish.
