Hello all!

I am trying to build an acrylic tank for the first time and need a little advice.

my tank will only be 32"L x 4"W x 16"H

1) can I use 1/4" plexi?

2) does weld-on # 4 and 16 sound like the right thickness' of cement?

3) is there a particular "type" of Plexi I need to use? like abraision resistant etc. (other than clear of course  )

Any information or links to reading I should check into will be GRAETLY appreciated.

Thanks!
Sid

Here are some instructions that I made when I built my sump:

Instructions for building acrylic sump (MS Word)
Diagrams/plans (MS Powerpoint)

You can click on the links to view them in your browser or you can right-click on the link and select Save Target As to download the files.

I hope these instructions/plans are helpful. Practice with small pieces first and you will get the hang of it. The instructions tell you what solvent to use and a good approach to building the tank.

Yes, with the tank only being 4" wide, 1/4" should be plenty thick. That is certainly an odd dimension. What do you plan on keeping in this tall, long and very narrow tank? By my estimates, it will be about 9 gal.

odd yes, I'll send you a pic when I get it done so you'll understand my madness. 9 gal is what I came up with too. as for stock, pipe fish or bangi's or possibly a few other tiny species of fish. no coral or LR just fish and coral skeleton (skeletons I got...don't we all... )
