I just had my anemone die on me its only about a week since a bought it, when i first put it in my tank it moved itself (as they do) to find a spot it likes. It just so happened that it parked itself right on the rock that had all my mushrooms on!! So it was stinging the hell out of them so i had to move it. It moved onto a piece of dead coral head but during the night it went right in the middle of the damn thing eventually it got through the other side but wasnt looking so good and never really recovered from the whole thing and just slowly died. What to you think went wrong? was my water quality or was it because i moved it?

Welcome to Reefs.org!!!

A little about your tank specs might help get the ball rolling here. Lighting especially. What kind of anemone was it? There are a million things that could have contributed to your anemone's demise.

If you haven't already, I would pick up the book "Host Anemone Secrets", it is a short book and pretty cheap, but gives you a good overview of most of the anemones in the aquarium trade.

Anemones want L I G H T !!!!!!!

Mine grow toward the sun like flowers.

They have feet. Do you move snails? No. Don't move anemones. Let them move themselves.

Try to get tank raised ones, please.

They are apex predators and their populations are decimated in the wild. Please, please, buy splits off other people. Don't buy a wild-caught one.

Just my $.02

Also, as you've just learned via empirical evidence, it's really best not to mix them with sessile invertebrates.

If you're new to the hobby (this is the impression I get) I'll suggest very strongly that you stay away from anemones for the time being. They're among the more delicate creatures to keep.
