Brand new 90 gallon AGA, Amiracle refugium, 4x95 pc lighting and 140 lbs of uncultured live rock.
Want ot know what to expect now, live rock has been in for 5 days, no ammonia showing yet, some white fuzzy things and stringy stuff floating around.
When should I see ammonia spike and any other advice or suggestions.

Thanks-Clark

Have a look at this first, it will help you out alot:

http://www.reefs.org/library/newbieguide.htm

As for what to expect, it depends on the quality of the rock you picked up. If it was pre-cured completely, you likely will never see a cycle unles you overload the tank with new animals. If it was not cured, it could take a week or two to start and last from 1-8 weeks to completely cycle.

If that guide above doesn't answer the questions, ask again.

It's hard to tell with uncured rock. Some suppliers ship it straight from the beach. Just to be safe, you can put non-cycling fish after a month. If you want to keep corals, wait 2 months for softies. Don't add clams or hard corals until you see purple and green coralline algae growing on your glass.

Coraline Seems to be taking a long time to develop in my tank. Don't hold your breath on that to show up, could be awhile

In any case, you need to start off with some coralline on your rock, no matter how small it is. If there's none at all, it won't happen. If you're having problems getting it started, place a piece with coralline in front of a powerhead. This will help spread the spores. It's not enough to just dose calcium. Strontium and Molybdenum are needed for calcification. Maintain high calcium and alkalinity ions, and you'll see coralline start to develop under caves and crevices.

Ah,

I'll try that on my tank and see. There are small coraline patches here and there but I have noticed no spread thusfar after a month with irregular Kalk dosing, I really only do it maybe twice a week. A half gallon each time via drip, should I be dosing more often? 45 gallon tank

I have no experience using Kalk. I use two part additives myself. From what I understand, Kalk (limewater) should be used to replace all evaporated water which is a much faster rate than what you've described. Some even think that regular evaporation is not fast enough and place fans over their tank or sump. Perhaps, other Kalkwasser users can describe their own methods.
