Looking for a reasonably price refractometer. They all look about the same to me but are priced from the $40's to $300.

Can anyone give me a recommendation for a good reasonably priced refractometer. Also can anyone give me an explanation on why the big price difference between refractomers - what makes one more expensive?

Thanks for you help!

eBay at $38-$40, metal construction, temperature compensating and the same as the $70 at Marine Depot. I use mine daily and it holds the calibration well. Best $40 I ever spent.

Here is a nice one at Aquatic Ecosystems.

If you never heard of this place you gotta get one of their catalogs or just check out the rest of their site. They have alot of awesome, hard to find stuff.

I purchased the RHS-10ATC from premiumaquatics.com

Really good unit and there reputation for good customer service is well earned! You can however probably get the same unit fairly cheap on ebay but again you will not get the same customer service. I would have saved 30 bux if I went the ebay route but PA is now selling the same unit much cheaper then when I purchased it.:
