I have been looking for a new skimmer for a while now to replace the ineffective noisy piece of junk i presently use, i have about $500 to spend on a skimmer system, the qusetion is which one, i've read all the sales pitch stuff until i can resite it in my sleep, from Aqua C, Precision Marine, Euro-Reef, to name but a few. What are the ETSS skimmers like?
My system totals about 220, 180 Tank, 30 Gal Refuge and another 10ish in my sump, so i was after some Pro's and Cons from people who have used and abused these skimmers to get a true picture of which will work best for me, i am at present leaning towards the AquaC EV-240, with the John Guest fitting for Ca Reactor, which is next on my VAST list of expensive wants.

Thanks in advance for any Help

Happy New Year

Anton :D

If it were me, I'd go either with a Euro-Reef or some type of beckett injector skimmer. I know that Len and Jolieve have one and they both like them very much.

I love my ETSS. The argument aginst them is that they require a lage pump and are hard to 'tune in', but i didnt have any problem with tuning in mine, it seemed very easy

Everyone has their favorite, and it's usually the one they are using. :D I've had an AquaC EV-240 for about two years, and I love it. It works extremely well, imo. It fills up with foul gunk in about a week for me, so I clean it right after wcs. The one slight negative, ime, has been that early on I had to tweak the air intake setting to get it to where I wanted it to be...the foam was too wet for my tastes (so to speak  ). In other words, this skimmer is not a plug in and forget, like a Euroreef is. That being said, though, I wouldn't go with anything else. But that's me!

To be honest, I think you will be happy with any of the skimmers mentioned above. All of them are high quality and will do the job!

Thanks for all the info

Now i am stuck, i read downdrafts can overskim, so am in a quandry over the skimmer size of the ETSS skimmers, which are starting to look the most appealing, do i go for the

Reef Devil Deluxe. Handles 220 Gal, this is the size of my system, am presuming it is better to have a bigger skimmer than your system size

ETSS 600 Professional, Handles upto 300 Gal, will handle it no problem, but will have to make severe mods to my present setup.
they are nice looking skimmers, and after a mornings research they are very good, reliable and robust equipment that produce excellent results
I'll keep comparing

Thanks
