w00t, w00t... Got my new MH setup

Got my new MH setup yesterday and hung it from the ceiling... I can't believe the difference it makes in just appearance alone (as compared to my PC setup)...

I got the PFO shimmer halide hood (48", 175w 13k x2, 96w 7100k x2)...

I'm slowly acclimating the tank to the new light setup... Currently, I'm going to start off the tank with only 4 hours of MH running and then weekly move the run time up an hour or so... The PC's are staying on for 10 hours now...

If the height of the hood is adjustible, you maybe able to run it on a regular schedule, but at a greater distance to make it dimmer. IMO, light acclimation is better accomplished by gradually increase the light intensity, then by increase the amount of time.

Sorry for the long wait to the replies... My internet connex has been hosed the last few days...

tangir1: I actually thought about that... And yes, my hood is adjustable up and down... Hung it from the ceiling and also got PFO's hanging kit... Currently, it is 8" from the waterline in the tank... What height would you recommend starting it out on?!? My old lighting setup was CSL's 4x65w PC's (2xwhite, 2xblue)...

Bingo: I will get some pics as soon as I can... I'll give you a description for now... With only the PC's on, the tank gives off a slight violet color... I didn't know my corals had that much florescent color in them until now... When the MH's come on, everything is really bright... There is slight color of blue then... I JUST CAN'T BELIEVE THE DIFFERENCE THAT MH'S MAKE WHEN TALKING ABOUT APPEARANCE!!!
