Hello,
I just bought a prizm skimmer for $45. I hooked it up hanging on the back of my 10gal nanoreef and when I turned it on the collection compartment filled up almost instantly with clean aquarium water?
WHats up with this thing? :x

Adjust the flow to almost closed.......then it will work.

I tried that and it didnt look like it was making enough bubbles to make a difference. I will leave it like that overnight and c what happens. The tank has gotta be filthy, Ive got 10#s of LR (almost cured) on top of 22#s of live sand. This is my test tank. No big filters just a powerhead, hang on back filter, and Jalli 2x55watt light.

Like bang said,, start it slow then dial it up over a few days,,,,a good guide is the bottom of the 'bubble storm' should always be a few mm below the O-ring.

Now it's broken-in, mine runs best at 2/3 open,,, I empty the gunk out once or twice a month,,, it skims dark-green crap just like any other skimmer.

A lot of folk hate these skimmers but with patience they can be made to work just fine on smaller tanks (75g or less IMO).

Only complaint I've had after a year is the powerhead died and took a while to get a replacement.
