ok i got a ato system to help maintain my tank and make my life a little easier which up till the last 3 days it has. now the downside. i got a snail that likes to sit on the float and for the last 3 nights i have had 5 gallons of ro water filled into tank each night. so its drain calculate to get salinity back. to have to do it again and again. so anyone hve any idea's how to cover float valve ? other than put a cover over it ? or take snails out ?

I think you should take the snails out of the ATO chamber and try and keep them in another area and make some sort of barrier so it won't climb over and a pic might help a little.

My solution was to make a float switch cover by using a small plastic jar and drilling small holes into it. Also if possible move the floatswitch to the middle of the area, where it would be impossible for a snail to get to (long plastic arm of some device ex. SEIO makes a good part i salvaged)

i think i am going to cut a piece of pvc to put around it. i took the snails out but really want to have a few in my ref. and it wouldnt matter if i put float valve in a different compartment. my snails climb over the bubble traps. so i guess pvc it is

I wish that was my problem with my ATO. My aquahub ATO keeps going out of service. Nothing wrong with the power strip, all connections seem fine. One minute it's working then next thing you know it's not.

I've never (knock wood) had an issue with snails messing with my ato switches. The pic of the 'black' switch holder is to show you how this is assembled. The 'white' one is the one in my sump..you can see how it 'sits' on the baffle.
I have lots of smails in my sump/fuge and have had no issue with them with this design.
