Hi Guys and Gals;

Well IMAC 2 was a huge success with about double the number of attendees and exhibitors we had last year. As promised during the conference, 2004 attendees can sign up for 2005 for just $95 for a limited time. Others can get a $125 rate. The conference will be in Chicago again June 24, 25 and 26. We don't yet have the website redone but we have the registration portion up.

Something new we're trying this year, we want you to pick the speakers. We already have Julian Sprung, Henry Schultz III, Dr. Frank Marini and probably Dr. Richard Pyle. Add your favorites to the list (in this thread) or email me. My email is on the website www.theimac.org . Those with the most votes will be invited.

We just got our first batch of DVDs and VHS tapes of this years speakers in and we'll have them up on the website soon.

Cheers,
Dennis

Hi Reefkeeper;

You can see the exhibits for free. You just have to register if you want to take in the lectures.

BTW, we have just posted photos on the IMAC website so you can get an idea of what the exhibits look like.

Cheers,
Dennis

C'mon guys. Don't any of you have any ideas of who you would like to see speak at next year's IMAC? Here's your chance to help organize a conference designed for YOU.

Cheers,
Dennis

When I was talking to Sanjay at the conference, he had an idea of a round table discussion on lighting between people like himself, Dana Riddle, Steve Tyree, etc.

I know I'd also like to see Dick Perrin from Tropicorium talk.

Now if you could get Veron (Corals of The World author) or Katharina Fabricius and/or Philip Alderslade (Soft Corals and Sea Fans authors) that would be seriously cool too. :D

How about a Marc Weiss Q&A with the audience? I'd pay lots of cash for a ticket to ask him a few things...

;)

Peace,

I'd say aim to push the lectures into the scientific realm and perhaps bring in someone from NOAA who does coral reef research themselves. They'll have to make the presentation something most people can follow, but it might add a little more 'oomf' to the conference. Topics can be anything from current thought on reef threats, to reef conditions, etc.

I'll try to come up with some names after vacation.

Somewhat off-topic, but any guess if theres going to be another stab at a frag swap next year?

Shane, I've already sent an email to Martin inviting him. No response yet.

GratefulDiver, we might try a Frag Swap again if we can find some people to run it and can overcome some of the problems we anticipated this year.

Cheers,
Dennis
