I am very interested in getting one of these but I have read that they like to eat soft corals such as Xenia. Just wanted to double check and see what everyone else thinks of them.

I have a clam, button polyps, Xenia, shrooms, few other things.

Foxface Rabbitfish ( Siganus vulpinis ) feed primarily on algae and small crustaceans. In the wild these pick algae off the branches of Acropora corals (SPS) and may occasionally pick on LPS corals. If you keep it well supplied with algae and shredded meaty foods there shouldn't be a problem (although take this with the usual disclaimer that all fish have their quirks especially when it comes to living in our aquariums as opposed to the wild).

IME, they don't bother corals and do nothing but graze. algae. I consider them perfectly reef-safe.

I have had one for about 1 1/2 years. He is growing fairly fast and eats out of my hand. He is one of my favorite fish. I believe this fish ate my Aptasia. I had a lot of it and then it was suddenly gone. I don't keep corals so I can't answer your question. He is in a community tank and gets along fine with my other fish.

I am going to go get one today. I talked to the LFS and the guy says he had kept them in his coral propagation tank to control the hair algea.

Thanks for the help!!
