I have a cleaner shrimp who has grown rather rapidly.

A small damsel has been going up to him and I figured, the shrimp is going to eat him because the damsel is very small.

Yesterday I found the damsel dead and being eaten by the cleaner shrimp.

Did the shrimp kill him or did the damsel just die and the shrimp was cleaning up?

I agree the fish probably died and the cleaner is doing his job.

Cleaner shrimp don't kill fish, ime. Sorry about your damsel.

I figure the fish just died but the fish did look very healthy until his demise and he liked to hover in front of the cleaner shrimp which looked to be too close for comfort. This damsel was very small, no bigger than a nickel. The shrimp is over 3" long.

Is it a Skunk cleaner shrimp? If so then your fish probably croaked on it's own. If it's a big coral-banded shrimp then I'd be looking suspiciously at the shrimp.
